"Chucky" franchise creator Don Mancini has publicly slammed rapper Nicki Minaj for using his iconic horror character in a post featuring Republican messaging.

On Election Day, Minaj shared what appeared to be a seemingly AI-created graphic of horror movie icon Chucky in a pink suit with a pin that reads: “Vote Red.” Mancini responded to the post on X, calling Minaj an "IMPOSTER" in all caps and stating, "CHUCKY IS PART OF THE BLUE WAVE THAT WILL WASH AWAY ALL THE CORRUPTION."

In a standalone post on his own profile, Mancini rejected the idea of Chucky being "MAGA-pilled" by telling his followers: “Chucky has a trans kid. Chucky protects the dolls. Chucky is anti-ICE. Chucky says ‘A BLUE WAVE is coming, as BLUE as my fuckin’ eyes!’” Mancini also posted a photo of a Chucky doll with blue hair instead of his trademark reddish locks and wrote: “Too bad, Nicki! No AI, by the way!”

This interaction follows previous instances of Minaj using Chucky on social media, including a post in January when she used an image of the killer doll to attack journalist Don Lemon over his coverage of anti-ICE protests.

Mancini started the franchise in 1988 with “Child’s Play” and most recently created the “Chucky” television series, which ran for three seasons between 2021 and 2024. In one of the show’s early episodes, Chucky says “I have a queer kid,” referring to his offspring Glen/Glenda (who debuted in the 2004 movie “Seed of Chucky”). The “Chucky” series, which aired on SYFY and USA Network, was canceled after three seasons in September 2024. The last feature film was “Cult of Chucky,” which was released in 2017.
