Apple released a MacBook Pro equipped with a touch interface to expand its laptop lineup. The 14-inch MacBook Pro, which features a PROLED XDR display, weighs 3 pounds.
In contrast, the M6 models of non-touch MacBook Pros begin at a weight of 3.4 pounds. A 16-inch MacBook Pro with a touchscreen weighs 4 pounds, while the M5 Pro version of the 16-inch model without a touchscreen weighs 4.7 pounds.
The new 16-inch MacBook Pro is slightly thinner and has a smaller footprint than the current 16-inch MacBook Pro. Users can perform touch gestures such as pinching to zoom, swiping to scroll, and double-tapping to maximize a window.
To ensure compatibility with third-party applications, macOS translates taps into clicks as a fallback. The touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro starts at $2,899, which is $400 more than the M5 Pro MacBook Pro.
The device also features a glowing Apple logo. Steve Jobs described the interface as "ergonomically terrible".
