San Francisco police have recovered the wreckage of a boat that capsized in San Francisco Bay this week. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon with 20 people aboard, all there to scatter the ashes of a loved one.

The body of Tondra Madruga, aged 58 and also known as Tondra Miller, was identified by the San Francisco medical examiner on Friday. She is now named as the second victim in this tragic event following the identification of another person earlier that day.

According to reports, the Volare, a 49ft (15m) cabin cruiser, sank after being hit by a wave and capsizing. The boat was part of a group gathering at Alcatraz Island for a memorial service when it encountered adverse weather conditions.

The search for two missing individuals continues as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the accident. Local residents have been advised to stay alert and report any sightings or information that could aid in the investigation.

Family members of those involved are seeking support and guidance through this difficult time, with community organizations offering assistance and counseling services for those affected by the tragedy.

The incident has raised concerns about safety measures during such events, particularly when dealing with large gatherings on water. Authorities have urged organizers to review their protocols and ensure proper safety guidelines are in place moving forward.
