The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued fresh notices to television actor Momina Iqbal and PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar following the emergence of new digital evidence in a harassment case.

According to NCCIA Punjab’s Deputy Director Waqas Saeed, a special team headed by a deputy director will examine the newly obtained digital evidence, along with previously available records in the case.

The team has been given one month to complete its investigation and submit a report to the NCCIA director general, after which further legal action will be decided based on the findings.

The NCCIA has also summoned Iqbal to appear at the NCCIA office in Lahore on September 14, while Chadhar has been summoned on September 11.

A Lahore court has disposed of Chadhar’s and his wife’s pre-arrest interim bail petitions as withdrawn, after the new Investigating Officer (IO) Hassan Sajjad Naqvi informed the court that the suspects’ arrest was not required at the present stage.

Previously, the investigating officer Najam Bajwa had informed the court that Chadhar had been found guilty after investigation, but the new IO stated that the investigation had changed and the suspects’ arrest was not required at this stage.

Momina Iqbal had initially accused Chadhar of online harassment, cyberbullying, and threats through social media, which triggered widespread attention and led to the NCCIA registering a case against Chadhar.

The court hearing on July 28 had seen Iqbal present, where the IO informed the court of the development, leading to the withdrawal of the bail petitions.

The case revolves around Iqbal’s allegations of harassment and cyberbullying by an MPA belonging to the PML-N, which she claimed had caused severe mental stress and trauma to her and her family.
