Indus Motor Company (IMC) recently hosted the Grand Finale of the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest in Lahore. The event was a collaborative effort between IMC and Toyota Motor Corporation Japan, aimed at fostering creativity among Pakistan’s children.
This year's edition of the contest received an unprecedented response with 29,535 artworks submitted from across the country. A total of 1,408 schools participated in the competition, including 638 government and underprivileged schools, highlighting the widespread interest and engagement among young participants.
Following a rigorous evaluation process, 488 artworks were selected for final judging. The contest introduced three new awards this year: the ‘Vice Chairman Choice Awards’, the ‘CEO Choice Award’, and the ‘Waku Doki’ (heart-pumping excitement) award. These recognitions aimed to celebrate exceptional creativity and innovation among the young artists.
Shinji Yanagi, Vice Chairman of IMC, personally selected three outstanding artworks for the new ‘Vice Chairman Choice Awards’. Speaking on the occasion, Yanagi stated, 'Every artwork tells a unique story and reflects the boundless creativity of young minds. The Vice Chairman Choice Awards were introduced to recognize artworks that particularly embody originality, emotion, and bold imagination.'
Ali Asghar Jamali, CEO of Indus Motor Company, presented the ‘CEO Choice Award’ to three outstanding artworks. In his remarks, he said, 'The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest is more than an art competition — it is a celebration of imagination, innovation, and the limitless potential of Pakistan’s children.'
The event also celebrated 27 regional winners and nine exceptional young artists who were honoured as National Winners. Their artworks represented Pakistan on the global stage at the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest finals in Japan.
Additional awards included three ‘Waku Doki’ (heart-pumping excitement) awards, selected by the engineers of IMC, which recognized artworks that demonstrated unique creativity and innovation.
The jury for this year’s contest comprised renowned faculty members from the Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture. Aliya Yousuf, Khalid Anwar, Masood A Khan, and Abdul Jabbar Gull ensured a transparent, fair, and inspiring selection process.
Speaking about the record-breaking participation, Jamali emphasized, 'The participation this year, particularly from government and underprivileged schools, reflects our commitment to creating opportunities that inspire every child to dream boldly.'
