ISLAMABAD: Sixteen replicas of the historic Liberty Bell, reimagined by Pakistani artists to reflect their views on freedom, were unveiled at Lok Virsa Museum on Thursday. The exhibition, titled ‘Let Freedom Ring,’ was inaugurated by US Chargé d’Affaires Andy Halus and Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi.
Organised by the US Mission to Pakistan through its Public Diplomacy Section and Lincoln Corners network, the exhibition features artworks created by artists from across Pakistan on the theme ‘What does freedom mean to me?’ The decorated bells showcase diverse colours, symbols, and styles, highlighting personal interpretations of freedom, identity, creativity, and hope.
Halus stated that art and expression connect societies, while Khichi highlighted how cultural exchanges help strengthen ties and understanding between Pakistan and the US. The exhibition will run until July 27 at the Lok Virsa Museum and Pakistan Monument Museum as part of US Mission Pakistan’s Freedom 250 activities marking the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence.
The replicas, each a unique interpretation by local artists, are displayed in vibrant colours and intricate designs. They serve not only as artistic expressions but also as symbols of the ongoing cultural dialogue between Pakistan and the United States. The exhibition aims to foster mutual understanding and appreciation through shared values and creative expression.
Speaking at the inauguration, Andy Halus said: 'Art is a powerful tool for communication and connection. These replicas of the Liberty Bell are a testament to the rich artistic heritage of Pakistan and the enduring spirit of freedom.' Federal Minister Aurangzeb Khan Khichi added: 'Cultural exchanges like this exhibition help us build stronger ties with our international partners, promoting mutual respect and understanding.'
