Gold prices fall in Pakistan as international market declines

Gold prices fall in Pakistan as international market declines

Key Takeaways

  • Gold price per tola dropped by Rs1,800 in Pakistan.
  • International gold rates fell by $18 to reach $4,096 per ounce.
  • Silver price also decreased by Rs33 to reach Rs6,370 per tola.

Gold prices in Pakistan experienced a significant decline on Thursday, following the loss seen in the international market. The local rate of gold per tola fell to Rs432,036 after dropping by Rs1,800 from the previous day's price of Rs433,836.

The All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA) reported that 10-gram gold was sold at Rs370,401, marking a decrease of Rs1,543 from the previous day. This decline in prices reflects the global trend observed on Thursday.

The international market saw a slight drop as well, with gold rates falling by $18 to reach $4,096 per ounce, including a premium of $20. This indicates that the local market closely follows the fluctuations seen globally.

Silver also experienced a decrease in price, dropping by Rs33 to reach Rs6,370 per tola. The overall trend suggests that precious metals are currently experiencing downward pressure both domestically and internationally.

These changes in prices can impact various sectors of the economy, particularly those related to jewellery manufacturing and investment. Consumers may find it more affordable to purchase gold and silver products, but businesses might face challenges due to reduced margins.

The APGJSA shared that these fluctuations are part of a broader market trend, with buyers and sellers adjusting their strategies accordingly. The association advises consumers to stay informed about such changes as they can significantly impact purchasing decisions.
