During a meeting with a Meta delegation led by Tehara Punchihewa, Asia-Pacific Public Policy, and Vivian Liang, Policy Programs Manager for Asia-Pacific, Pakistan's Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan highlighted the importance of digitization in the national reform agenda. The minister emphasized that the government is finalizing an E-Commerce Policy and a National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy to foster innovation and technology-driven economic growth.
The training program will be implemented by local partner AtomCamp, offering both physical and online sessions from August to November 2026. According to Meta, the initiative aims to expand market access for SMEs, improve digital skills, and support women entrepreneurs as well as businesses in smaller cities. The program will cover Meta’s digital platforms, AI-powered business tools, and online marketing strategies.
Jam Kamal Khan noted that Pakistan's growing digital economy, expanding smartphone penetration, and young population present significant opportunities for technology companies to contribute to digital skills development and entrepreneurship. He encouraged Meta to collaborate closely with the Directorate General of Trade Organizations (DGTO), chambers of commerce, and trade associations to maximize the program’s outreach.
The Meta delegation expressed its commitment to expanding cooperation and strengthening the Small Business Growth Academy across Pakistan. The minister invited Meta to maintain long-term engagement with the Ministry of Commerce on digital literacy, SME capacity building, and digital trade. This partnership is expected to play a crucial role in driving economic competitiveness and improving governance through enhanced digital skills.
