PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has called for Pakistan to adopt the Chinese model of development, during a meeting with a delegation from Hunan province’s Loudi city. The visit was led by Deputy Mayor Yang Wai, who expressed hope for further strengthening of Pak-China ties.

Speaking at the event in Lahore on Thursday, Chaudhry Shujaat highlighted China's support for Pakistan, stating that it has been a 'sincere and time-tested friend' through various challenges including wars, natural disasters, and other calamities. He noted that Pakistan was the first country to recognize China.

During the meeting, both parties discussed bilateral relations and economic cooperation. Deputy Mayor Yang Wai expressed optimism about future collaboration, stating that China is committed to strengthening ties with Pakistan in various sectors.

The visit comes at a time when Pakistan is seeking ways to boost its economy and infrastructure development. The Chinese model has been successful in transforming regions like the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region into economic hubs through large-scale investment and infrastructure projects.

Chaudhry Shujaat’s call for adopting China's model reflects the growing interest among Pakistani policymakers in exploring new avenues for development. However, it also highlights the challenges that may arise from such a shift, including concerns over debt sustainability and potential political implications.

The delegation’s visit is part of ongoing efforts to enhance economic cooperation between Pakistan and China. The two countries have already established strong ties through initiatives like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has seen significant investment in infrastructure projects.
