Steelmaker POSCO Holdings and drugmaker Samsung BioLogics experienced losses, dropping 1.51% and 0.78% respectively.

Foreign investors were net sellers of shares worth 1.1 trillion won ($804.80 million), reflecting cautious sentiment amid rising bond yields and the prospect of a US rate hike.

In the debt market, the most liquid three-year Korean treasury bond yield fell by 2.5 basis points to 4.075%, while the benchmark 10-year yield dropped by 3.3 basis points to 4.555%.
