DeepSeek Harness published its v0.2.2-alpha.2 pre-release on GitHub on 28 October.

The software now includes an experimental plugin named subagent_oar. This plugin enables the primary agent to hand off independent tasks to a Codex CLI or a Claude Code installation located on the same machine.

While Harness previously supported Claude Code and Codex, the v0.1.0-rc.8 update in August 2026 had allowed users to install them as profile bundles within the subagent system. The subagent_oar provides a single entry point for the main agent to dispatch work. The tool immediately returns a task ID to the user.

A completion notice eventually delivers the final answer or an error back into the main session. Codex CLI and Claude Code maintain their own settings, models, tools, and sign-in credentials. Provider settings can transmit a model, reasoning effort, launch arguments, environment variables, and a timeout.

The main conversation is not forwarded to the external tools. Tasks are one-shot operations that do not include follow-up questions, live progress streams, or session resumes. Only the final result or a failure is returned, excluding the internal reasoning or tool history of the outside agent.

Cancelling a task does not revert file changes that the outside agent has already performed. Small background-task outputs are now included inside the completion notice. The release allows users to update third-party plugin packages and roll back if a hot update fails.

Interface text for Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Russian, and Brazilian Portuguese has been added to the release.
