Apple is replacing damaged units of its new iPhone Duo foldable phones after customers reported broken inner screens on brand new devices. The company acknowledged an "issue" with the hardware but stated the problem affects a "small number" of Duo units.

Shahram Mokhtari claimed the defect stems from a problem along the hinge where the flexible inner screen pushes against a specific component. Mokhtari suggested the center support bar might not always drop down far enough during the folding process, leading him to warn, "you’re going to break that screen."

A user named CuriousHagi reported that a part of the hinge connecting to the central bar had snapped. Mokhtari stated, "If three months from now, we’re still seeing the same kind of failure, then it’s a more widespread problem, and that might lead to a recall."

The analyst observed that many people are using the phones without encountering any issues whatsoever.
