The Sindh government has decided to reopen a U-turn on Karachi’s University Road to provide commuters with greater convenience while work continues on the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. During the session, officials reviewed arrangements for routes intended to serve the recently arrived electric and double-decker buses. Memon directed officials to finalize suitable routes for these new vehicles.
Memon expressed hope that another batch of electric and double-decker buses would arrive in Karachi later this month. He called for comprehensive planning regarding services and operations, emphasizing that the buses must serve areas where residents need public transportation the most.
To ensure the project stays on track, Memon directed officials to take extraordinary measures for the timely completion of the Red Line project. He also ordered the early completion of the remaining construction work on the second section of the Taj Haider Bridge and instructed officials to monitor construction activities on a daily basis.
