Students from Pakistan International School Jeddah-Aziziya (PISJ-A), Pakistan International School Jeddah-English Section (PISJ-ES), and Taif International School jointly celebrated the 149th birth anniversary of legendary Poet Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal in the school auditorium on November 4. The "Poet of the East" was honored with a celebration intended to pay tribute to the philosopher and inspire youth to shape their personalities based on his attributes of ‘Khudi’, ‘Momin’, and ‘Shaheen’.
The host, Sajid Nadeem, Principal of the Al-Aziziyah School, welcomed the guests and offered special thanks to the chief guest, Muhammad Irfan, Press Counselor at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah. Other attendees included Qaiser Khan, Principal of the Pakistan International School, Taif; Vice Principal Ms. Rubina Naz; Coordinator Sarfraz Nadeem; and Muhammad Ikram. Also in attendance were Ms. Amna Usman Khan, Principal of the Pakistan International School, Rehab (English Section), along with faculty and staff.
During the event, students showcased their talents through recitations of poetry, artistic performances (tableaux), and speeches regarding Iqbal’s philosophy. Specifically, students focused on the concepts of Khudi (selfhood) and the Shaheen (the eagle/soaring spirit). Students including Seema Saleh, Dua Waheed, and Sabgha Fatima remarked that Khudi provides an individual with self-identity and confidence, while the Shaheen symbolizes freedom, self-respect, and high aspirations.
The objective of the gathering was to acquaint the younger generation with Iqbal’s ideas to foster national consciousness, self-respect, and high morale. The students aimed to highlight Iqbal's message of believing in personal potential and pursuing lofty goals through hard work.
In his concluding address, Press Counselor Muhammad Irfan praised the children's performance and the efforts of the teachers and organizers. He stated that he envisions a bright future for both the children and Pakistan. He also extended special thanks to Sajid Nadeem for his support and patronage in organizing the event.
