Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif led a high-level review meeting to evaluate the development of the Jinnah Medical Complex currently under construction.

During the meeting on Monday, Sharif described the current building work as satisfactory and insisted that project milestones be met within the agreed timeframe. The Prime Minister ordered that the facility must employ a transparent process where all staff appointments are based strictly on merit.

A press release from the PM Office Media Wing confirmed that the state-of-the-art healthcare site is being developed to meet international standards. Sharif stated that the Jinnah Medical Complex will offer sophisticated medical treatment to patients from Islamabad and throughout Pakistan, with a focus on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

He also highlighted the plan to hire a private sector organization to oversee the management of the hospital. Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Syed Mustafa Kamal, and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry joined the session alongside other senior government officials.

Sharif emphasized that the project must include core components like PET scans and other modern diagnostic tools to ensure low- and middle-income groups can access affordable, advanced healthcare. The Jinnah Medical Research Centre (JMCRC-I) has reached a completion rate of 59 percent. Construction teams have already finished the structural work for the parking plaza and the main hospital building.

The 403-bed medical facility is slated to begin operations by March 23, 2027. Current activities include setting up the hospital's digital management system, arranging administrative matters, and installing medical equipment. Authorities have launched a competitive national bidding process for a revised design of the Jinnah Medical Research Centre Phase-II in Sector H-11.

The project is also currently in the phase of procuring scanners and other modern diagnostic machinery.
