Maryam Nawaz received the UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour Award for the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar housing program at a ceremony marking World Habitat Day in Muscat. The Apni Chhat Apna Ghar program achieved recognition as one of the world's top five affordable housing projects.

Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that the program has successfully delivered over 200,000 homes throughout Punjab. The initiative, which began on 21 August 2024, aims to supply affordable apartments and houses to eligible residents across Punjab over a four-and-a-half-year period.

The scheme intends to assist low-income individuals who currently reside in rented dwellings or informal settlements by helping them secure ownership of their own residences. UN-Habitat Executive Director Anacláudia Rossbach welcomed Maryam Nawaz and other attendees at the event.

This year, the UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour Award was presented to five individuals. Other award recipients included Htoo Way Ng from Myanmar, Thiago Baurmann Gebert from Brazil, Abdelmalek Ghanem from Tunisia, and London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
