The K-IV water augmentation project between Nipa Chowrangi and Hassan Square will now be finished by 31 December 2026. Faisal Javed, the KWSSIP Project Manager, confirmed the new deadline for the augmentation work.
This specific section of the project covers a 2.7-kilometre stretch and was originally intended for completion in February 2026. The broader initiative involves installing 94 kilometres of pipelines across the metropolis.
Workers are currently laying 96-inch and 72-inch pipelines between Hassan Square and Nipa Chowrangi. Approximately 40 feet of the 96-inch pipeline still need to be laid.
A 33-inch pipeline sustained damage last week. Abdul Rehman stated that the work had been complicated by the presence of existing water and sewerage lines, as well as K-Electric and Sui Southern Gas Company infrastructure, with workers proceeding cautiously to protect these utilities.
Excavation of a high-tension K-Electric line required roughly 100 feet of work over a period of 45 days. Hydro-testing of the pipelines installed between Hassan Square and Baitul Mukarram Mosque has been successfully completed.
A 1.4-kilometre stretch is scheduled for handover to the Red Line road construction in the first week of November. The remaining 1.3 kilometres will be handed over by the end of December.
Construction on the Red Line bus rapid transit project has been ongoing since 2021.
