A march calling for the release of Imran Khan commenced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday, in north-west Pakistan. Party colleagues and family assert that Imran Khan remains confined in solitary conditions and has been denied visits from his doctor or relatives.

Authorities shut down Islamabad and erected barricades using sandbags and shipping containers at the capital’s entrances. Furthermore, Khan’s three sisters were detained last week, citing national security concerns.

Over the weekend, two rounds of discussions occurred between the government and PTI leaders. PTI allies maintained that Imran Khan must participate in any political discussions.

Attaullah Tarar accused the PTI of exhibiting “double standards and hypocrisy.” By Monday afternoon, thousands of supporters joined the demonstration.

The marchers are anticipated to reach Peshawar by Wednesday. Sohail Afridi, the province’s chief minister, is leading the march.

Afridi called upon the public, stating, “I call upon you all to come out, the youngsters to come out for the sake of your leader who is sitting in jail.”
