The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Estate & Enforcement Department successfully conducted an anti-encroachment operation on Wednesday to reclaim valuable amenity land that had remained under illegal occupation for approximately 22 years.
A KDA spokesperson said the action was taken on the special directives of Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Director General KDA Zain-ul-Abideen Ansari. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Director Estate & Enforcement Syed Zain Ali Shah, with the active participation of departmental officers and staff.
During the operation, the enforcement team identified illegal structures erected on the amenity plot and demolished small houses constructed on the land. The department’s enforcement team then cleared the land of encroachments.
The reclaimed land is located in Qasba Township and is identified as Amenity Plot No. ST-37/4, known as Awan-e-Ittehad Markaz. It comprises approximately 2,300 square yards.
On this occasion, the KDA reiterated its commitment to protecting government and amenity lands across the city, eliminating illegal occupations, and safeguarding land reserved for public welfare so that it can be utilized for its originally designated purposes.
The operation forms part of an ongoing anti-encroachment campaign being carried out under the directives of Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and KDA Director General Zain-ul-Abideen Ansari. The campaign aims to reclaim valuable institutional land from illegal occupation and ensure the protection of public interests and citizens’ rights.
The KDA administration reaffirmed that illegal occupation of government and amenity properties will not be tolerated under any circumstances and that such operations will continue without discrimination to protect public assets and uphold the interests of the citizens.
