The Islamabad High Court (IHC) heard objections from the Registrar’s Office on Thursday regarding a petition submitted by members of the National Dialogue Committee. The petition seeks permission for these members to meet PTI founder Imran Khan while he is in jail.

Justice Umair Majid Malik presided over the hearing, which addressed the specific objections raised by the Registrar’s Office. The petition was filed by senior lawyer Faisal Chaudhry on behalf of former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry, former governor Imran Ismail, Mahmood Maulvi, and Barrister Saif.

During the proceedings, Faisal Chaudhry informed the court that the Registrar’s Office had raised objections to the request. Justice Malik noted that the office pointed out that a mechanism for jail meetings has already been established by a larger bench. The judge also questioned the petitioners on how they could claim a legal right to meet the PTI founder.

In response to the judge's questions, Faisal Chaudhry assured the court that the petitioners are willing to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the mechanism established by the court. He further provided assurances that the petitioners would not hold any media talk following a meeting with Imran Khan.

Justice Malik observed that a larger bench had directed in its order that any future petitions of this nature would be heard by that same bench. The court stated it would pass an order on the matter.
