Pakistan has carried out precision aerial and drone strikes in 10 locations across Afghanistan in response to drone attacks launched from the neighboring country, according to a statement by Information Minister Atauallah Tarar.
Tarar stated that the strikes were conducted in exercise of Pakistan’s sovereign right to self-defence and were deliberate, precise, and proportionate, targeting military objectives directly linked to the attempted attacks.
The minister condemned the Wednesday drone incursion, describing it as a 'deliberate and unlawful' violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Tarar noted that Pakistan had previously conveyed its concerns to the Afghan Taliban regarding terrorist elements and sanctuaries on Afghan soil, but the Taliban chose to escalate the situation through hostile drone operations.
Pakistan’s Air Defence systems had detected, tracked, and neutralised all intruding platforms before they could reach their intended targets, Tarar said, adding that the attacks were comprehensively thwarted.
The information minister warned that Pakistan will neither accept nor tolerate attacks from Afghan territory, whether by terrorist groups or the Afghan Taliban regime itself.
Tarar called upon the Afghan Taliban to halt hostile activity and take effective, concrete, verifiable, and sustained action against terrorist entities operating from Afghan soil.
He maintained that Pakistan remains committed to regional peace, dialogue, and constructive engagement, but warned that this commitment must not be mistaken for weakness or an unlimited tolerance of hostile actions.
The minister vowed that Pakistan will defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the lives of its citizens with full resolve and take all necessary measures to protect them.
