According to the utility, the major technical phase of the upgrade will continue for 48 hours, starting at 10 am on August 3 and ending at 10 am on August 5. The work includes installation and energization of new motors, pumps, and modern switchgear, transfer of a 1,000 kVA transformer, laying of power cables, and activation of a new switching system.
The corporation stated that the overhaul is intended to improve Karachi’s water supply system by making it more stable, efficient, and reliable in the future. The Chief Executive Officer of KW&SC, Ahmed Ali Siddique, has directed officials to complete the work strictly within the scheduled timeframe and minimize inconvenience to residents.
Siddique said the completion of the project would significantly improve the capacity, performance, and operational endurance of the Gharo Pumping Station. He emphasized that the corporation is committed to ensuring minimal disruption during this critical period.
