The Punjab government is arranging high-speed diesel (HSD) supplies for its 1,180 MW Bhikki power plant.
The facility typically operates using imported re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG), while diesel serves as the secondary fuel source. A three-year supply contract will be established for the diesel, featuring an annual performance review and delivery on an as-needed basis. Interested parties must submit their applications exclusively through the Punjab e-Procurement System.
Diesel currently costs Rs. 395.20 per litre, a decrease from the previous price of Rs. 402.96. Data from the Central Power Procurement Agency (CPPA-G) published by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) shows that diesel-based electricity cost Rs. 62.14 per unit in fuel alone during September 2026.
According to CPPA-G’s fuel data for September 2026, published by NEPRA, the fuel cost for RLNG was Rs. 39.74 per unit. The Bhikki plant commenced commercial operations in May 2018. QATPL stated that the Bhikki plant is one of the most efficient in the country, achieving over 61% efficiency in combined-cycle mode on RLNG.
