Roche acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace and stability and expressed France’s interest in expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The SGDSN, which Roche represents, has a central positioning in the executive power organisation and assists the French prime minister in exercising their responsibilities in the field of defence and national security.

The General Secretariat for Defence and National Security covers strategic defence and security issues, military programming, deterrence policy, economic and energy security, cybersecurity, the fight against terrorism, and the fight against foreign digital interference.

This meeting follows a similar visit by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to France earlier in the week, where discussions were held with France’s Foreign Minister, Jean-Noël Barrot.

The visit by Roche and Poirier underscores the importance of defence and security cooperation between Pakistan and France, particularly in the context of regional stability and security challenges.
