The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched a comprehensive data collection exercise targeting edible oil and ghee manufacturers across Pakistan. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to implement electronic production monitoring in the manufacturing units.

According to instructions issued by the FBR, all Chief Commissioners Inland Revenue have been directed to gather complete and updated information regarding these manufacturers. The aim is to create a comprehensive database that will facilitate effective planning and implementation of the initiative.

The data collection exercise covers all edible oil and ghee manufacturing facilities, including those that are operational, temporarily closed or non-operational. Each facility must be reported separately in a separate row, with detailed information provided for each one.

The FBR has emphasized the need for accurate and exhaustive information. The required details include the nature of each facility, its operational status, products manufactured or packed, packaging types, exact SKU sizes, number of filling/packaging lines, installed production capacity, and whether refined oil is sold in bulk or dispatched.

All field formations have been directed to undertake a comprehensive stock-taking exercise. This includes verifying information based on the latest available records and ensuring that no manufacturing or packaging facility falls through the cracks.

The FBR has specifically instructed Chief Commissioners Inland Revenue to ensure that the information furnished is complete, accurate, and exhaustive. Any Edible Oil & Ghee manufacturing or packaging facility within their jurisdiction must be included in the database.

This initiative aims to provide a robust foundation for effective monitoring and management of the edible oil and ghee sector. The FBR hopes that this comprehensive data collection will help streamline operations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
