  • The Foreign Office warned of potential hostile actions against Pakistani maritime interests.
  • Pakistan reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s security and sovereignty.

Pakistan's Foreign Office on Wednesday unequivocally condemned threats issued by the Houthi group against Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping in the Red Sea. In a statement, the office highlighted that such actions are unacceptable and violate international law.

The Foreign Office expressed particular concern over reports of threats directed at vessels engaged in lawful trade with Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that these actions threaten regional security and undermine freedom of navigation.

Pakistan declared that any hostile act against Pakistani-flagged vessels or maritime interests would be regarded as a grave threat to the country's national security. The statement further warned that Pakistan reserves its right to take all necessary measures, including lawful use of force, in self-defence consistent with the United Nations Charter and international law.

The Foreign Office also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and prosperity of Saudi Arabia. It called upon all parties to respect international law and ensure the safety and security of international maritime shipping.

In a broader context, Pakistan expressed deep concern over attempts to drag Saudi Arabia into the Middle East conflict, as fighting continues between the United States and Iran, which has targeted American military sites in some Gulf countries.

The statement affirmed that while remaining steadfast in its commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and regional de-escalation, Pakistan calls upon all parties to respect international law. It emphasized the importance of uninterrupted global commerce and the rules-based maritime order.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office highlighted the need for a peaceful resolution to conflicts and called for continued efforts towards dialogue and diplomacy to ensure stability in the region.
