Key Takeaways

  • The Punjab Traffic Police has initiated a special awareness campaign on juvenile driving permits.
  • Campaign to begin once educational institutions reopen in August.
  • Focus will be on educating students about safe driving practices and legal requirements.

The Punjab Traffic Police has announced the launch of a special awareness drive aimed at educating school and college students about juvenile driving permits. This initiative follows directives from DIG Traffic Punjab, with specific instructions issued to Chief Traffic Officers (CTOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs).

According to SSP Traffic Syed Nadeem Abbas, the road safety campaign will commence once educational institutions reopen in August. The circular emphasizes that special sessions will cover essential topics such as safe driving practices, traffic laws, and responsible road behaviour.

Eligible students are expected to be encouraged to obtain juvenile permits through the prescribed legal procedure. The Punjab Traffic Police has taken a proactive approach by ensuring that the campaign runs effectively across all districts of the province, with detailed instructions provided to local authorities.

The awareness drive is part of broader efforts to enhance road safety among young drivers in Punjab. By educating students about the importance and process of obtaining juvenile driving permits, officials hope to reduce accidents involving underage drivers.

In a statement, SSP Traffic Abbas highlighted the significance of this initiative: 'Educating our youth on safe driving practices and legal requirements is crucial for preventing accidents and ensuring road safety.'

The campaign will involve interactive sessions, presentations, and distribution of educational materials in schools and colleges. The Punjab Traffic Police has also emphasized the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and educational institutions to make this drive a success.

Local CTOs and DPOs have been instructed to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made for the smooth implementation of the campaign. This includes providing resources, training sessions, and support to teachers and students involved in the initiative.
