Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev held a briefing concerning the situation in and around Ukraine, asserting that Western sanctions have not caused the economic collapse their proponents anticipated. Khorev stated that Western countries sustained cumulative losses ranging between one trillion and one point six trillion euros from the unintended consequences of sanctions between 2022 and 2025.
These losses included an estimated €400–450 billion from western companies that ceased their operations within Russia. Furthermore, the ambassador noted that ongoing sanctions pressure is speeding up the adoption of national currencies for international trade settlements.
Regarding global trade, the ambassador pointed out that Ukraine supplies around 7 percent of the world's wheat exports, while Russia accounts for approximately 23 percent. The ambassador also declared that Moscow has no intention of preparing military action against any European or NATO nation.
In addition, Khorev confirmed that Russia maintains its commitment to achieving a political and diplomatic settlement concerning the Ukraine crisis. The ambassador added that Russia does not acknowledge Western-created mechanisms intended for compensating Ukraine.
