100 Entertainment filed a legal complaint on 30 September, initiating action against UMG and Virgin for alleged breach of contract. The company alleges that UMG's Virgin Music Group allocated only one-third of the marketing budget intended for The Game’s 2022 album, Drillmatic – Heart vs. Mind.

Specifically, 100 Entertainment claims UMG spent $179,000 against a promised $500,000 recoupable marketing budget for Drillmatic. Furthermore, 100 Entertainment seeks financial damages amounting to a minimum of $500,000 due to the album’s 'diminished commercial performance.'

Michael Trauben, 100 Entertainment’s lawyer, stated that the album did not achieve its potential because it was 'Deprived of nearly two-thirds of its bargained-for promotional support during the critical release cycle, the album did not perform as it would have had Defendants administered the marketing and promotion fund as the parties approved.' The Game’s eleventh solo studio album, Drillmatic, reached No. 12 on the Billboard 200 in August 2022 and remained on the chart for two weeks.

UMG and Virgin previously communicated to 100 Entertainment, denying any breach of contract.
