Daily Capital launched at the Tokyo International Film Festival market TIFFCOM during the “Taiwan Originals: Project Showcase” event. The company identified K2 Pictures and Remow as its co-development partners in Japan.
Producer Kii Muneyuki founded K2 Pictures, which includes Japanese filmmakers Iwai Shunji, Miike Takashi, Nishikawa Miwa and Kore-eda Hirokazu. Remow receives backing from Shueisha, Toei, Amuse, Shochiku, TBS Holdings and Fuji Media Holdings.
Chang stated, "Investment amounts will vary according to each project’s scale and needs, whether it’s a film, series or animation. We expect to come in during development or pre-production, contribute to script discussions and help assemble the core creative team. We also aim to keep the primary capital recovery period within three years." The first announced investment from Daily Capital is the series “Love Ends in Bloom”.
Set in 1930s Chiayi and Alishan, the 10-episode historical romance and business drama unfolds during the Japanese colonial period from 1895 to 1945. Juliana Hsu wrote the script, which Sun Jie-heng will direct.
Chang, who returned to Chiayi in 2023, noted, "Despite our proximity, Taiwan, Japan and Korea are rarely seen together in one narrative." Filming for “Love Ends in Bloom” is scheduled to begin in February 2027, with a target release in mid-2028.
