The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march entered its fourth day on Wednesday, reaching Shalobar in Bara tehsil of Khyber district. Local elders, tribal leaders, and youth welcomed Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the march participants upon arrival.
Speaking to the gathering, Sohail Afridi asserted that Pakistan belongs to all its citizens. He further stated that the Pakhtuns have always offered sacrifices for the nation and will continue this role in safeguarding its security and stability.
Afridi maintained that the PTI will persist in its political and democratic fight to secure the release of the party founder, Imran Khan. The Chief Minister stressed that ensuring the security, unity, and stability of Pakistan is a shared duty for every citizen.
He called for upholding the Constitution and law, alongside the judiciary's independence, press freedom, and protection of political workers' rights. Afridi alleged that the current political leadership contributes to national division and tension, noting that constitutional and judicial directives are not being followed.
He clarified that Pakistan belongs not to any specific class or family, but to every single citizen. Urging action, Afridi appealed to lawyers, judges, journalists, students, young people, and other societal groups to participate in a peaceful, democratic struggle for fundamental rights and the Constitution.
The Chief Minister emphasized that constitutional supremacy and the rule of law form vital foundations for both political and social stability within the country. Following the fourth day's activities, participants are scheduled to remain overnight at Shalobar D Road.
The caravan will depart for Peshawar on the following day.
