Pakistan nears completion of sixteen major road and highway projects

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting concerning National Highway Authority (NHA) projects, confirming that Pakistan is set to complete sixteen major road and highway projects. Among the major undertakings nearing finalisation is the upgrade of the GT Road, spanning from Tee Chowk in Islamabad to Banth.
During the last fiscal year, NHA revenue rose from Rs. 109 billion to Rs. 130 billion. Furthermore, the NHA revenue is projected to reach Rs. 160 billion in the current fiscal year.
Prime Minister Shehbaz directed that all ongoing NHA projects must undergo third-party audits. He also called for devising a strategy to develop national highways, motorways, and expressways through public-private partnerships.
A potential development involves the Mansehra-Chilas Expressway through Naran, which might cut the distance between the two towns by 146 kilometres.
