The government conceded to the opposition's demand allowing former prime minister Imran Khan to meet his family and lawyers, as directed by the Islamabad High Court. Furthermore, the government agreed to implement the Supreme Court's order regarding the arrangement of his medical treatment.

However, the government was unwilling to permit PTI leaders to meet and consult with Imran Khan before the finalisation of any agreement. Sources suggest the real cause of the current deadlock involves the issue of provincial government backing, specifically regarding ownership of a planned counterterrorism military operation across five southern districts, including the merged Fata regions.

The government also contended that the opposition withdrew its support after accepting a final draft agreement. Conversely, the opposition refuted claims that the differences between parties were too wide to bridge.

The military leadership issued a warning against any recurrence of a situation resembling the events of 9 May. The government previously brandished the option of imposing governor's rule within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The PTI insisted on holding a meeting with Imran Khan. The federal government is reportedly considering removing the PTI government and imposing a state of emergency or governor's rule in the province.

The province currently presents a volatile situation.
