Airport serves as alternate hub for Karachi, Sukkur, Nawabshah during bad weather
The airport will function as an alternate hub for Karachi, Sukkur, and Nawabshah when bad weather or emergencies occur. Flights destined for Karachi, Nawabshah, or Sukkur might be diverted to Hyderabad if disruptions arise due to weather or emergencies.
The runway at the facility will be extended from its current 7,000-foot length to 11,500 feet. This expansion means that larger aircraft, including Boeing 777s, will gain the capability to operate from the site.
PAA spokesperson Saif Ullah confirmed that the airport's revival aligns with the authority's broader plans. Furthermore, Ullah stated that the information reported by local media contains mostly true contents.
Work on the proposed project is anticipated to commence in the near future. It is noted that Hyderabad airport has not hosted a commercial passenger flight since 2013.
