Governor Faisal Karim Kundi presided over a Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Energy and Power Department meeting to evaluate the province's energy landscape.

Usman Saifullah Khan, the Energy Advisor, and Muhammad Zubair Khan, Secretary Energy, participated in the proceedings. Secretary Energy Muhammad Zubair Khan briefed the Governor on departmental affairs, including ongoing development, federal government friction, and outstanding net hydel power profit payments. The session evaluated the status and hurdles of the 94-megawatt Gabral-Kalam hydropower project.

Participants also reviewed the 470-megawatt Kurram hydropower project, the 229-megawatt Kadam power project, and the Pehur project. Officials examined obstacles in the oil and gas sector, specifically regarding the LPG Policy 2016, the 10 per cent LPG quota, and providing 100 million cubic feet per day of gas to industries.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi instructed that a formal communication be sent to the federal government concerning the province's net hydel power profit dues. Kundi stated that the province would maintain effective liaison with federal authorities to resolve energy sector problems and protect provincial rights.

The meeting included a briefing on challenges facing various projects, such as the gas blocks in Miranshah, Tirah, and Orakzai. Governor Kundi said he would hold talks with federal institutions to settle gas and other energy-related matters.

Kundi noted that once the desired industrial structure is established, the facilities and allocations obtained from the federal government could be utilised more effectively.
