Elon Musk stated that the Ukrainian military breached Starlink terms of service by using the satellite internet for offensive drone strikes intended to kill people. The billionaire added that the specific loophole allowing such actions was closed last week.
Ukrainian officials denied violating the terms of service and instead accused SpaceX of imposing limits on the military's satellite internet. Ukraine reportedly uses Starshield for offensive missions, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stating that Starlink is used for mid-range strikes against enemy military targets.
Serhii Beskrestnov noted that commercial Starlink systems can only connect to devices moving between 70 and 90 kilometres per hour. Beskrestnov said, "Therefore, we physically cannot use commercial Starlink for deep strikes or medium-range strikes."
Serhii Sternenko explained that any satellite terminal required to function while in motion had to be included on a special list and linked to the military Starshield system. The Ukrainian military is now able to connect to devices traveling at speeds exceeding 400kmh.
