FESCO Launches RAAST-Powered Payment System for Electricity Bills

FESCO Launches RAAST-Powered Payment System for Electricity Bills

Key Takeaways

  • Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has introduced a new payment facility through the RAAST system.
  • Consumers can now pay their bills instantly via mobile banking applications without additional charges.
  • The initiative aims to support Pakistan’s cashless economy and improve customer service.

Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has launched a new payment facility for electricity bills through the RAAST (Rapid Account-Based Settlement System), enabling consumers to make instant, secure payments via mobile banking applications. This initiative aligns with the Government of Pakistan’s cashless economy policy and directives from the Ministry of Energy (Power Division).

Muhammad Saeed Raza, a FESCO spokesman, stated that all FESCO consumers can now use the RAAST payment option available in their respective banks’ mobile banking applications. Consumers are instructed to scan the Quick Response (QR) code printed on their electricity bills and complete payments instantly, without any service or convenience charges.

Raza highlighted that payments made through RAAST will be reflected immediately in FESCO’s billing system, allowing company officers to verify transactions online in real time. This mechanism is expected to enhance transparency, speed up payment processing, and improve customer service. The new facility also covers demand notices, detection bills, and other related payments, providing a unified digital platform for consumers.

Under the directions of the Ministry of Energy (Power Division), electricity distribution companies are implementing the RAAST platform in phases for Person-to-Government (P2G), Government-to-Person (G2P) and Government-to-Government (G2G) financial transactions. FESCO is actively promoting digital payment methods to support the government’s vision of a cashless economy.

FESCO officers are directed to create public awareness about the new system, urging consumers to take advantage of modern digital facilities for electricity bill payments. Raza emphasized that this initiative would make payment services more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly.

The spokesman further stated that FESCO is committed to supporting the government’s cashless economy policy by introducing QR code and RAAST-based payment options. He encouraged consumers to give preference to RAAST for electricity bill payments, highlighting its cost-effectiveness compared to conventional methods.
