Sialkot Launches Electric Bus Service This Month

Sialkot Launches Electric Bus Service This Month

Key Takeaways

  • Sialkot to introduce 10 electric buses for public transport.
  • Project includes two major routes: Sialkot-Daska and Sialkot-Pasrur.
  • Authorities have installed charging infrastructure and built 46 bus shelters.

Sialkot is set to launch an electric bus service this month, offering residents a cleaner and more affordable public transport option. The Deputy Commissioner’s Office has announced that the first phase of the project will include ten electric buses, with four operating between Sialkot and Daska and six serving the Sialkot-Pasrur route.

According to Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali, the buses have already arrived in the city, and the charging infrastructure has been installed ahead of the official launch. To support the new service, authorities have established 46 bus shelters across the district, ensuring better accessibility for passengers.

The District Regional Transport Authority (DRTA) estimates that the service will benefit around 10,000 passengers daily by improving public transportation, lowering travel costs, and promoting sustainable mobility. Officials are also in the process of finalizing and geo tagging designated bus stops on both routes to ensure smooth operations.

The launch of this electric bus service is part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing public transport infrastructure in Sialkot. The project aligns with the government’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote eco-friendly transportation options for residents. Deputy Commissioner Asghar Ali stated, 'We are committed to providing our citizens with reliable and sustainable transport solutions.'

The new electric buses will operate on two major routes: one connecting Sialkot and Daska, and the other serving the Sialkot-Pasrur route. The charging infrastructure has been strategically placed along these routes to ensure that passengers can easily recharge their vehicles.

In addition to the buses and shelters, authorities have also taken steps to improve the overall transport experience for residents. This includes establishing designated bus stops and ensuring that all relevant information is clearly displayed at each stop. The DRTA hopes that this initiative will not only reduce traffic congestion but also provide a more efficient and cost-effective mode of transportation.

The launch of the electric bus service in Sialkot marks an important step towards achieving sustainable development goals. By introducing clean energy vehicles, the district administration is taking proactive measures to address environmental concerns while providing residents with better public transport options.

We are committed to providing our citizens with reliable and sustainable transport solutions.
