Xiaomi Launches Affordable Electric Shaver with Long Battery Life

Xiaomi Launches Affordable Electric Shaver with Long Battery Life

Key Takeaways

  • Xiaomi has launched a new Mijia Electric Shaver on its Youpin platform in China.
  • The shaver is available at an introductory price of around $29, offering several premium features.
  • It boasts up to 90 days of battery life and a three-head rotary design for efficient shaving.

Xiaomi has introduced the Mijia Electric Shaver on its Youpin platform in China, positioning it as an affordable alternative with advanced features. The device is priced at around $29, making it accessible to a wide range of consumers.

Designed for both wet and dry shaving, this electric shaver uses a three-head rotary design with a dual-ring cutting system. Its blades are made from irregular corrugated foil through metal injection molding, paired with concave stainless steel blades that guide facial hair more efficiently into the cutting area. This innovative design claims to reduce pulling and snagging, common issues in cheaper models.

According to Xiaomi, this new shaver improves shaving efficiency by about 48 percent compared to its previous model. The device is available in three colors: Meteor Gray, Sky Blue, and Glacier Silver. It features a smart motor adjustment that monitors blade resistance up to 100 times per second, automatically increasing power when needed for thicker beard areas.

To enhance skin comfort, the shaver uses micro-bead coating on its shaving heads and is made from low-nickel stainless steel, compliant with European nickel release standards. The head assembly includes a 360-degree floating frame to ensure close contact with curved facial areas like the jawline and chin. The device charges via USB-C in approximately two hours and offers up to 90 days of battery life when used for one minute daily.

For convenience, the Mijia Electric Shaver supports use while plugged in, ensuring continuous shaving even if the battery runs low. It also features an IPX7 water resistance rating, allowing both wet and dry shaving. The shaver includes a travel lock and a basic LED battery display to monitor remaining power levels.

While the product has launched in China through Xiaomi’s Youpin platform, there is no confirmation yet of its availability in Pakistan. However, given Xiaomi's active presence in the Pakistani market with other smart home and grooming products, it is likely that this shaver will be introduced locally as well.
