Tyla Unveils A*Pop Album Tracklist with Creative Spray Paint Display

Key Takeaways

  • South African artist Tyla revealed the tracklist for her upcoming A*Pop album.
  • The album features previously released singles and new tracks like 'That Girl' and 'Kiss'.
  • Tyla used a blacklight room to spray-paint each song title on the walls in fluorescent colors.

South African artist Tyla has unveiled the tracklist for her upcoming A*Pop album, which is set to release on July 24. The album features a mix of previously released singles and new tracks, including 'That Girl' and 'Kiss'.

In an innovative promotional move, Tyla opted for a creative display rather than a typical social media post. She visited a blacklight room where she spray-painted each song title on the walls in vibrant fluorescent colors, setting the stage for her upcoming release.

Tyla's album is composed of 14 tracks and includes singles such as 'Chanel', which reached No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100, and 'She Did It Again', which peaked at No. 59. Other notable songs include 'Fairytale' and 'Mr. Nonchalant'.

Speaking to Billboard Africa earlier in July, Tyla explained her vision for A*Pop: 'A*Pop is just something that came to me. It just makes so much sense. I’ve always wanted to be this pop star. I just hate being restricted and limited. I hate following rules. I hate being polished.'

The album serves as a follow-up to Tyla's 2024 self-titled debut, which debuted at No. 24 on the Billboard 200. This new project aims to blend African music with pop, reflecting her desire to break free from traditional pop star norms.

In addition to her musical endeavors, Tyla has also ventured into voice acting this year. In June, she made her debut as a voice actor in Toy Story 5, voicing an inflatable flamingo character.

Tyla's approach to music and promotion is refreshingly unconventional. Her use of a blacklight room for the tracklist reveal not only highlights her artistic vision but also showcases her commitment to innovation and creativity.

Fans can look forward to Tyla's A*Pop album, which promises a unique blend of African pop with global appeal.
