Private School Students Hospitalized After Heatstroke During Photoshoot

Private School Students Hospitalized After Heatstroke During Photoshoot

Key Takeaways

  • 60 students fainted during a photoshoot at a private school in Shikarpur.
  • The incident occurred despite summer vacations and high temperatures.
  • Authorities launched an investigation into the school's operations.

Sixty students were hospitalized after suffering from heatstroke during a photoshoot at a private school in Shikarpur, Sindh. The children reportedly fainted due to prolonged exposure to intense sunlight, despite educational institutions being closed for summer holidays.

Local media reports indicate that the incident took place as temperatures remained extremely high across parts of Sindh, with several districts experiencing heatwave conditions. The school had called students to campus for a photoshoot even though they were not required to be present due to the ongoing summer break.

Hospital officials stated that more than 60 children were brought in, including 46 girls and 14 boys. Doctors confirmed that all of the students are now out of danger after receiving timely medical care at the Civil Hospital in Shikarpur.

Following the incident, authorities launched an investigation to determine why the private school was operating during the summer break and on a weekly holiday. The investigation is also probing why students were allegedly kept outdoors in extreme heat for the photoshoot, leading to such a large number of heatstroke cases.

The incident highlights concerns over the safety measures implemented by schools during hot weather conditions. Health experts advise that children should be protected from prolonged exposure to intense sunlight and that educational institutions must adhere to guidelines to ensure student welfare.

Parents and community members expressed shock at the school's decision, stating that it was inappropriate for students to be exposed to such harsh conditions. Local authorities have emphasized the need for stricter regulations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
