KARACHI: The Salt Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SMAP), Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) and National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) have announced the launch of a free technical training programme aimed at developing skilled workers for Pakistan's salt industry.
The initiative, which will commence on August 24, is designed to equip young men and women with industry-specific skills, enhancing their employment prospects and supporting long-term growth in the sector.
According to SMAP Founder Chairman Ismail Suttar, Chairperson Saima Akhtar, and former Chairman Qasim Yaqoob Paracha, participants will receive comprehensive training in salt packaging and quality control, salt mining, export documentation, and the production of value-added salt products.
The programme is structured to provide one month of classroom-based theoretical instruction followed by two months of on-the-job training (OJT) at relevant industrial facilities. This hands-on experience aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
SMAP leadership stated that the initiative addresses the shortage of skilled manpower in the salt industry, promotes value addition, and boosts Pakistan's salt exports by producing industry-ready professionals.
