Takegei Company Limited is producing a Japan-Canada film project titled Wild Zero Overdrive as part of this year’s Tokyo Gap-Financing Market. The Tokyo Gap-Financing Market operates as a component of TIFFCOM, which serves as the content market for the Tokyo International Film Festival.
Producer Takeuchi is establishing the budget using his own capital as the foundation while searching for distribution partners. Casting for the production is currently underway.
Takeuchi stated, "Rock’n’roll never dies. And love for Japanese subculture and rock’n’roll. UFOs. Motorcycles. Love." Takabatake Aki met the new film’s cinematographer by chance in Toronto.
Aki said, "I’ve been a huge fan of ‘Wild Zero’ (1999) ever since it came out. I even named my dog Ace, after the film’s main character." Aki added, "‘Wild Zero Overdrive’ and I are bound together by an unbreakable rock ’n’ roll pact."
The producers are seeking further financing, international sales agents, and distributors both in Japan and abroad.
