Donald Trump described comedian Bill Maher as a "complete and total loser" and a "major POTHEAD" who "looked like hell" during a dinner at the White House this month.

The former president posted a 1,300-word tirade on Truth Social on 25 October, claiming that Maher begged him for years to appear on his HBO show.

Trump further alleged that Maher incessantly calls him and invited himself to the White House, but stated he will never watch Maher's program again because it is "nothing more than FAKE NEWS that America, and the World, is unfortunately subjected to." Maher refuted the claim that he did not believe disarming Iran was a good idea.

During an episode of Real Time with Bill Maher on 23 October, the host addressed the social media post, saying, "Did you see the 1,300-word [Truth Social post] he sent out? Longest ever! Kind of a flex."

Maher joked that dining with Trump is like dating Taylor Swift, noting that while it involves many laughs at the time, the aftermath involves being "tearing you a new asshole."

The comedian also compared the experience to a restaurant, stating, "I tell ya, dining at the White House is the opposite of the Cheesecake Factory — after you leave, they review you!"

Maher described the former president's reaction to him as being like "Kelly Clarkson in a toy store" and admitted, "you got me there. I’ll own that" regarding a specific point.

He denied making the calls to Trump, saying, "I’ve never called you. You call me! I’d be afraid to call you — you’re the president, I think you’re too busy (well, plainly not)." The White House dinner also included Stephen A. Smith and Kid Rock, and Maher conducted an interview with Karoline Leavitt.

Maher concluded his remarks by saying, "You know what? Fuck you. I like these dinners."
