Ben Wang is in negotiations to portray Bobby Drake, also known as Iceman, in the upcoming Marvel Studios reboot of X-Men.
The character first appeared in the comic book The X-Men #1 in September 1963. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige revealed the new cast for the project during the D23 convention in August. Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, while Kit Connor is cast as Cyclops.
Samara Weaving joins the production as Emma Frost, and Inde Navarrette will portray Rogue. Maya Boyd is set to play Storm, and Asa Germann will appear as Angel. Christopher Abbott will take on the role of Professor Charles Xavier, while Adam Driver is cast as Mr. Sinister.
Jake Schreier, who directed last year's Thunderbolts, will direct the film based on a script by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. The movie is scheduled for release on May 5, 2028. Wang, who is represented by Stewart Talent, Artists First and Schreck Rose Dapello, is also set to play Wyatt Callow in Sunrise on the Reaping.
Joseph Zada will play Haymitch Abernathy in that prequel to the Hunger Games franchise. The actor previously starred in the 2024 Mean Girls reboot and Disney+ projects American Born Chinese and Chang Can Dunk. Deadline first reported the potential involvement of Wang in the X-Men project.
