The Pak-China Friendship Hospital in Chak Shahzad is now prepared to admit patients. Federal Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal visited the site to inspect the 250-bed facility.

Located near the National Institute of Health, the hospital was formerly known as Margalla Hospital. The building originally served as the Isolation Hospital and Infectious Treatment Centre, which the Frontier Works Organisation constructed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Construction of the 40-kanal site took 40 days through a joint effort involving the National Disaster Management Authority and the National Institute of Health. China contributed a grant of US$ 4,000,000 toward the project, which had an estimated total construction cost of approximately Rs 980,000,000.

The facility was inaugurated in July 2020 and was renamed the Pak-China Friendship Hospital. The federal government chose a public-private partnership model, selecting the Indus Hospital and Health Network to manage the site.

The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination signed agreements with the Indus Hospital and Health Network, a non-profit healthcare organisation, on 31 July 2026.
