Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Sources said the suspects were affiliated with the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. In a separate incident, armed men abducted two members of a polio vaccination team in the Azam Warsak area of Lower South Waziristan, though both vaccinators were later released.

The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) for Polio Eradication confirmed Pakistan's seventh polio case of the year, which was reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The NEOC said the infected child is a 13-month-old girl from the Jan Baz Union Council in Bara tehsil.
