Relatives of Sir Ranulph Fiennes stated that it is 'very painful' he appears to have been hidden away from them. Sir Ranulph Fiennes, aged 82, has been alleged to have entered care homes using assumed names.

Cheshire Police are aware of the concerns surrounding Sir Ranulph and are satisfied that he remains in an appropriate setting with suitable care. The explorer has not been seen in public for nearly two years.

A report published in the Telegraph previously raised concerns regarding Sir Ranulph's whereabouts. Alex Millington-Cotes, Sir Ranulph's stepson, stated that he wished to have the power of attorney removed from his mother.

To 'locate and safeguard' the explorer, Alex Millington-Cotes launched a crowdfunding campaign for legal fees, which raised almost £26,000. Arabella Pepper, sister of Sir Ranulph's late first wife Ginny, reported that she had not seen her brother-in-law for over a year.

Pepper confirmed seeing Sir Ranulph in July 2025 after she admitted herself to a care home. John Simpson wrote that he was 'horrified to hear what's happened to my good friend Ran Fiennes'.

Sir Ranulph began leading expeditions in 1967. During the Transglobe Expedition, Sir Ranulph led the initial team to circumnavigate the globe from north to south.
