President Asif Ali Zardari extended greetings to teachers across Pakistan and around the world on World Teachers’ Day observance on 5 October 2026. The President stated that teachers are central to every education system, imparting knowledge, nurturing curiosity, and shaping character for young people.

Furthermore, President Asif Ali Zardari noted that strengthening the teaching profession is vital for improving education quality and expanding opportunities for children and young people in Pakistan. He also asserted that investment in supportive learning environments, professional development, and teacher education remains necessary for educators to meet evolving student requirements.

Regarding technology, the President remarked that while it can aid teaching and learning, it cannot replace human qualities such as empathy, mentorship, ethical guidance, or the ability to inspire students. To support the profession, President Asif Ali Zardari stressed that governments, educational institutions, parents, communities, civil society, and the private sector must collaborate to respect and strengthen teaching.

The observance also marks the 60th anniversary of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers.
