Talks broke down over allowing former prime minister Imran Khan to meet his personal physicians and addressing terrorism in KP. The interior minister accused KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi of 'sabotaging' the talks on Sunday afternoon.
A signed agreement and implementation plan for counterterrorism operations were expected to be finalized within 72 hours. However, Peshawar abandoned the proposal for a signed agreement and implementation plan for counterterrorism operations.
Mr Afridi insisted that his province and its legislature hold the final say on any security decisions affecting KP’s people. Despite this, the KP government stated it remained open to centre collaboration on counterterrorism, calling for “effective, consistent and meaningful” consultations between the two.
Meanwhile, the PTI initiated its protest march. Former KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur set out with a caravan from D.I. Khan towards Lakki Marwat.
The march was advertised as a “peaceful political march”. Mr Afridi also reiterated the constitutional right to protest peacefully.
